Meet the Finalist: Véronique Picciotto, "Follow The Arrow"
Tell us about yourself, and about Follow The Arrow.
I’m very happy to be finalist as “Best Actress”. I’ve been an actress for 25 years and at the moment I’ve won 26 awards with my role in THE ROLE OF A LIFETIME , it’s funny and it gives wings to go on and higher. I would like to thank Marc Saez for entrusting me with this role wich has enabled me to develop and show myself in various ways. For FOLLOW THE ARROW, Marc’s film was a real challenge, it’s his first film, he set the bar very high. The mix of genres is never easy and the mix between thriller, eroticism and fantasy is very successful. Follow the arrow is a particularly well-made ambience film and the cinematography is incredibly beautiful. The part of your life is a surprising punch film too and it offers me a magnificent role to play for an actress, it is rare in cinema.
Share a memorable moment you experienced working on this project.
For THE ROLE OF A LIFETIME, I was lucky to be able to follow the editing of the film, which I found extremely interesting for an actor. In fact, we are witnessing the production of the film, the heart of it, and it’s easier then to understand some of the director’s choices. For FOLLOW THE ARROW, I had muscle contracture on my calves in the chase on the Montmartre’s streets. The film was shot in 3 days it was a real challenge!
Name 3 collaborators that you'd take with you to any other project.
Marc SAEZ the director of the film for his kindness and the enhancement of my work. Olivier Hémon for his patience, talent and enthusiasm, Wadi laadam (editing+sound designer) Lamine Diakite (cinematographer) for their professionalism, energy and support and Jean-Marie Lamour with whom I had previously worked and been associated lovingly in other film projects, which was an asset to play the love scenes of FOLLOW THE ARROW because it was easier to do that with someone I knew well, I was less embarrassed. These are very technical scenes.
3 tips you’d like to share with aspiring artists in your field:
Continue to work your art despite the difficulties you may encounter.
Be tenacious.
Be project initiators so as not to be constantly in demand.
What do you hope to achieve in your career in the next 5 years?
Keep working as an actress with some pretty roles to play.
Véronique PICCIOTTO & Jean-Marie LAMOUR are nominated for Best Duo of the Year at the New York Film Awards.
